Why we exist

A trusted search and navigation layer for physical commerce.

StartToFind is not an indoor mapping vendor. It's a local commerce infrastructure platform, built so physical shops can be as searchable, comparable, and navigable as online stores.

Mission

Make every physical space digitally accessible, searchable, comparable, and navigable.

It gives independent shops the tools to compete with large platforms and brands.

Vision

Choice on merit, not just convenience

Customers shouldn't pick a shop just because it's more visible online. Every business should be able to offer a shopping experience customers can trust.

The story

Why this got built

It started with a simple problem: arriving somewhere new, a city, a campus, a building, and not being able to find what you're looking for. Not the big picture, the small stuff: which shop sells this, what floor is it on, is it even worth the walk.

"If indoor navigation, local product search, and digital shop visibility are technically possible, why aren't they widespread?"

Turns out the answer isn't technology. Floor-plan parsing, pathfinding, product search, predictive modeling: all buildable today. What's missing is adoption. Existing solutions are too expensive, too fragmented, or built for enterprise procurement teams, not the bakery on the corner. StartToFind starts from the opposite side: free at the core, hands-on for the first pilots.

Right now it's being built solo, in public, one pilot conversation at a time. The rest of the team, developers, growth, accessibility advisors, a commercial lead, gets hired as the Vienna pilot proves the model works.

What makes this different

Not an indoor mapping vendor

StartToFind is a scalable local commerce infrastructure platform. No single feature makes the difference. It's combining all of these into one system built for adoption, something no single competitor currently offers independent shops:

Free automated indoor mapping
Local product search
SME digital storefronts
Personalized comparison
In-shop navigation
Accessibility guidance
Hyper-local advertising
Network effects

Investing in StartToFind isn't investing in a mapping tool. It's investing in a new search layer for physical commerce: a platform where physical shops become as searchable, comparable, and navigable as online stores already are.

The opportunity

A growth market, still underserved at the SME level

Indoor positioning, indoor navigation, and location-based services are projected to keep growing strongly, driven by smart buildings, retail analytics, healthcare, and transport. At the same time, local commerce remains underdeveloped for SMEs: consumers increasingly start product searches online, but smaller businesses are rarely visible in those searches. The largest opportunity isn't selling indoor maps. It's becoming the trusted discovery and navigation layer that local commerce currently doesn't have.

Strategy

Density first, then network effects

The hard problem in this market isn't the technology, it's getting shops to adopt it. StartToFind removes the barriers: free onboarding, automated mapping to keep costs low, and a search engine that brings in real customer demand. We start with local SMEs and public institutions in one city, Vienna, and build enough density for search to actually work before expanding.
